Functional Health Trainings

A comprehensive curriculum covering three critical dimensions of health and well-being: The Heart-Centered Dimension, The Physical Dimension, and The Psychological Dimension.

The Origin of Functional Health Trainings

As I am now in my eighth decade, clients have been asking me if I am training anybody to do my work. A few of my students have asked to study or apprentice with me.

Since my twenties I have been aware of my gift for identifying health issues and finding resources to address them. Over the years, I have studied many modalities of health care: Spiritual counseling, Humanistic psychotherapy and many different forms of energy work, including acupuncture, homeopathy, Bach flower remedies and aroma therapy. I am certified in Postural Integration and Neural Organization Technique.

Initially my focus was on energy and psychology. In response to a significant family health crisis, I redirected my focus to the roots of both of physical and psychological dysfunctions – a new field of healthcare called Functional Medicine.

Combining my intuitive ability with Neuro-muscular Feedback (NMF), I synthesized those into a comprehensive approach to physical, psychological and spiritual functional health. These three dimensions of health are the focus of three separate but mutually supportive courses in the curriculum of Functional Health Trainings.

  • The Heart-Centered Dimension
    101: Managing Life Through Peace
  • The Physical Dimension
    102: Bio-Functional Energetic Training
  • The Psychological Dimension
    103: The Functional Brain Matrix

THE HEART CENTERED DIMENSION
101: Managing Life Through Peace

Participants will learn to use Neuro-muscular Feedback (NMF) to address personal life issues and enhance responsible, purposeful choices. Using inner peace to maintain neutrality, they will discover how to neutralize the reactive aspects of our brains. This progressively enhances our intuitive ability to access heartfelt intelligence.

When there is peace there is love. Love is the natural expression of our Soul. Through the practice of Inner Peace, we access the natural healing energy of our Soul. This enhances the quality of our relationships, brings greater effectiveness in the different domains of our life, heals past traumatic memories and optimizes the health of our body.

THE PHYSICAL DIMENSION
102: Bio-Functional Energetics

The foundation of this work is a Bio-Functional Energetic Assessment. Most often, when people think about health, they have been trained to think in terms of symptoms: Where is the pain? Where is the discomfort? What is the dysfunction? And what does it all mean? Identifying the symptoms assists the practitioner to determine the type of pathology and to identify a treatment protocol. However, this approach overlooks the understanding of the foundation of health and how a simple imbalance in the foundation can be the cause of a multiplicity of disorders.

The Bio-Functional Energetic Assessment

A bio-functional assessment reveals a clear picture of the imbalances in the foundation of health. The longer the foundation has been disturbed, the more functional disorders are likely to be found.

Accessing the wisdom of the heart connected to the mind, we assess and quantify any imbalances in four areas that support the core functions of optimal health:

  1. Absorption is the body’s ability to receive, transport and assimilate nutrients.
  2. Processing is the body’s ability to take these nutrients and convert them into usable form.
  3. Elimination is the body’s ability to release toxins and residues that it cannot use.
  4. Protection is the body’s ability to deal effectively with external or internal attacks and invaders that interfere with its effective functioning.

Any lack in these four specific core functional areas will manifest as chronic imbalances in your body in the form of: toxicity, inflammation, degeneration or dysfunction.

In turn, these can directly and dramatically impact all the major body systems: digestion, elimination, hormonal, immune, cellular, neurological, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal. We assess each one of these body systems and identify natural methodologies to move toward optimal health.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DIMENSION
103: Functional Brain Matrix

This training analyzes and applies the powerful interaction between the brain and the heart.

  • The brain: the powerful instrument that empowers our body in our quest for self-expression and personal effectiveness
  • The heart: the doorway into our spiritual, transpersonal connection to our soul and a life of dedicated service

Without the leadership of the heart, the brain is dominated by our survival instinct and the drive of our ego.

There are four functions of the brain:

  • Direction (the will)
  • Connection (the emotions)
  • Cognition (the intellect) and
  • Expression (the creative imagination).

The Inner Family

We call these four functions of the brain the “inner family” because, for better or worse, they were programmed in our own family as the most direct connection to our social environment, reinforced by our childhood and adolescent experiences in society, schools, and our religious identity.

These four functions tend to be dominated and driven by a sense of lack, which results in ego needs for control, attention, recognition and approval.

We explore the potential strengths and weaknesses of each of the four functions of the psyche and how to reprogram them toward their ultimate purpose. We do this by bringing forward the wisdom of the heart as a source for healing memories and the empowerment and integration of all these functions in service to our Soul purposes. Because each of these brain functions is also connected to organs and physical functions, healing our minds improves our physical health and greatly contributes to our personal effectiveness.

Physical/Psychological Integration

Often physical issues are reflected in our psychology and vice versa, so we will also assess basic physiological functions essential for personal effectiveness and measure the negative impact of the physical on the psychological and the negative impact of the psychological on the physical.

How to Participate

These trainings are designed for anyone interested in embracing their own journey of health and helping others do the same.

The Heart-Centered Training, Managing Life Through Peace, is the required foundational training for both subsequent courses. This is currently being offered as a series of five 2-hour zoom sessions starting in the Fall. For more information and to register click here.
